Overview
When you connect a third-party channel to Fyr, you authorize Fyr to access specific data from that platform. Fyr requests only the permissions needed to collect analytics, performance data, and, for some ad platforms, to support features like ad text editing. Fyr never requests access to private messages, inboxes, or direct communications on any platform.
Facebook & Instagram
What access level is required?
The minimum role required in Meta Business Manager is Content (the lowest level). This is sufficient to connect both Facebook Pages and Instagram Business accounts to Fyr.
What permissions does Fyr request?
| Channel | Permissions requested | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Organic | pages_show_list, read_insights, pages_read_engagement, business_management | List your pages, read page analytics/insights, read post engagement metrics (likes, comments, shares) |
| Instagram Organic | pages_show_list, instagram_basic, instagram_manage_insights, business_management | List your pages, read Instagram business account info, read Instagram analytics/insights |
| Facebook Ads | ads_management | Read and manage ad account data, campaign performance, spend, and ad content (e.g., ad text editing, Dead Link Checker) |
What does Fyr NOT access?
- Private messages or inbox conversations
- Direct messages (DMs)
- User-generated content in messages
This makes Fyr safe to connect for organizations with sensitive communication channels (e.g., banks, healthcare providers).
Google channels
| Channel | Permissions | Access type |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | adwords | Read and write - performance data, campaign management, and ad text editing via Fyr features |
| Google Analytics 4 | analytics.readonly | Read-only - analytics data |
| Google Search Console | webmasters.readonly | Read-only - search performance data |
| YouTube | youtube.readonly, yt-analytics.readonly | Read-only - channel info and analytics |
| Google Merchant Center | content | Product data |
| Google Sheets | drive.file, spreadsheets.readonly | Read specific spreadsheets |
| Google BigQuery | cloud-platform.read-only, bigquery | Query data (read-only) |
| DV360 | display-video, doubleclickbidmanager | Display & video campaign data |
All Google channels use your existing Google account. The minimum requirement is having access to the specific property/account in Google (e.g., read access to the Google Analytics property, or ad account access for Google Ads).
| Channel | Permissions | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn Ads & Organic | r_ads_reporting, rw_ads, rw_organization_admin, r_organization_social | Read ad reporting, manage ads, access company page analytics |
You need to be an admin of the LinkedIn Company Page or have ad account access. Fyr does not access LinkedIn messages or InMail.
TikTok
| Channel | Permissions | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok Organic | Account info, video list, video insights, user insights | Read account stats and video performance |
| TikTok Ads | Ad management, campaign data, reporting | Read and manage ad account data and performance metrics |
Fyr does not access TikTok direct messages or comment content.
Other channels
| Channel | Access type |
|---|---|
| Snapchat Ads | Marketing API - ad account performance data |
| Microsoft/Bing Ads | Ad account management - campaign and performance data (read/write) |
| Adform | Programmatic buying stats - campaign and creative data (mostly read-only) |
| Xandr | Programmatic ad data |
| Matomo | Website analytics (self-hosted alternative to Google Analytics) |
Why do some channels have write access?
Fyr features like the Dead Link Checker (which can pause and re-enable ads with broken landing pages) and ad text editing require write access to ad platforms. This is why Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Bing Ads request read/write permissions rather than read-only.
Security summary
- Fyr requests only the permissions needed for analytics, reporting, and ad management features
- Fyr never accesses private messages, inboxes, or direct communications on any platform
- Analytics-only channels (GA4, Search Console, YouTube) use read-only access
- Ad platforms use read/write access to support features like ad text editing and the Dead Link Checker
- You can revoke Fyr's access at any time from the third-party platform's settings
